We have important updates regarding our "Sync Calendars" feature. These changes, which will remove “Sync Calendars” from Motion, are scheduled for September 1st, 2023.
Please note that the "Sync Calendars" we're referring to is the functionality that copies events from one of your calendars to another, inside Motion settings. Motion will continue supporting 2-way syncing between all your Google & Outlook calendars and Motion. Our goal is to sharpen our focus on features that boost the reliability, ease of use, and usefulness of Motion, which allows us to provide you with a better experience overall.
We understand that some of you have found value in our Sync Calendar feature, which allowed automatic copying of events from one calendar to another. However, after careful evaluation of its usage and the engineering investment required, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue this feature. Starting September 1st, no new Sync Calendar events will be created, and existing Sync Calendar events will be removed.
For users who still require Sync Calendar functionality, we want to make sure we leave you in good hands. We vetted all existing calendar syncing tools to find the ones that will best fit your productivity needs. We recommend Clockwise as a free alternative for syncing Google calendars. If you’re looking for a more fully-featured syncing tool that also syncs Outlook calendars, we recommend CalendarBridge. To that end, we’ve teamed up with the CalendarBridge team to give Motion users a 1-year, 40% discount when they sign up for CalendarBridge. Importantly, these alternatives work seamlessly in conjunction with Motion - just make sure to delete your Motion calendar syncs in Motion settings before setting up calendar syncs with these other services.
By phasing out this feature, we can use our resources more efficiently to focus on developing highly-requested features and improving the overall usability of our product. This will allow us to deliver a more refined and productive experience to all our users.
